Admission Policy

Policy

Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre is committed to offering access to its facilities to all children, inclusive of special needs, cultural, financial and religious backgrounds. Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre operates an "open door" policy (a welcome at all times for all parents). The Admission Policy is to be provided to parents completing a Waiting List Form and will be available online via the Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre website.

Admission Criteria for Baby Room

  1. Babies must be 6 months at admission.

  2. Children must be born to be placed on the waiting list.

  3. First preference given to children resident in the Parish of Kilbride. Proof of residency, i.e. utility bill, in own name, may be required.

  4. Second preference will be given to children with siblings currently attending the childcare centre.

  5. Third Preference will be given to children of staff members and children whose parents lived in the parish previously. If there are no remaining places a waiting list will be drawn up.

  6. Referrals from family support services will be accepted provided there is a place available.

Admission Criteria for Toddler Room

  1. Children should be 18 months old or developmentally ready for the toddler room.

  2. Children already registered in Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre and attending the Baby Room will have first preference to admission of the Toddler Room.

  3. Second preference is for children resident in the Parish of Kilbride. Proof of residency, i.e. utility bill, in own name, may be required.

  4. Third preference will be given to children with siblings currently attending the childcare centre.

  1. Fourth Preference will be given to children of staff member and children whose parents lived in the parish previously.

  2. If there are no remaining places a waiting list will be drawn up.

  3. Referrals from family support services will be accepted provided there is a place available.

Admission Criteria for the Pre-school aged children

  1. Keeping in line with the Dept. of Children and Youth Affairs policies, a child may be admitted to the sessional ECCE Free Pre-School Year when they are who are 2 years 8 months, on 1 September.

  2. Children should be potty trained before they attend Pre-school, as there is no nappy changing facilities available.

  3. Children already registered in Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre and attending the Toddler Room will have first preference to admission of the Pre-school Room.

  4. Second preference given to children resident in the Parish of Kilbride. Proof of residency, i.e. utility bill, in own name, may be required.

  5. Third preference will be given to children with siblings currently attending the childcare centre.

  6. Fourth preference will be given to older children to prepare them for school.

  7. Fifth preference will be given to children of staff members and children whose parents lived in the parish previously.

  8. If there are no remaining places a waiting list will be drawn up

  9. Referrals from family support services will be accepted provided there is a place available.

Admission for After-school Program

  1. Children must attend a national school.

  2. There will be no more than 12 children to one adult.

  3. Children already registered in Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre and attending the Pre-school Room will have first preference to admission of the After-school Room.

  4. Second preference given to children resident in the Parish of Kilbride. Proof of residency, i.e. utility bill, in own name, may be required.

  5. Third preference will be given to children with siblings currently attending the childcare centre.

  6. Fifth preference will be given to children of staff members and children whose parents lived in the parish previously.

  7. If there are no remaining places a waiting list will be drawn up.

  8. Referrals from family support services will be accepted provided there is a place available.

Admission Procedure:

  1. All inquiries are provided with a Parent Information Booklet.

  2. A fully completed registration form and Policy & Procedures read and sign-off sheet for each child must be lodged with administration prior to a child starting.

  3. Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre will adhere to all regulations as set out in the Pre-school regulations, including the adult: child ratio.

  4. Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre will aim to meet the requirements of children with special needs. The facility is wheelchair accessible.

  5. Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre caters for children from 6 months to 13 years.

  6. Children, when possible, should be toilet trained when entering the pre-school room.

  7. Children who have been ill overnight should not attend Cuan Bhríde. (Please see Illness & Medication Policy)

  8. There is a comments policy and complaints procedure in place.
