Children’s Clothing Policy

Policy

Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre understands that some children have very strong view and opinions on what they would like to wear to the centre. However, for health and safety reasons, some boundaries need to be set.

Procedure

  1. Children should attend centre in seasonally appropriate clothing.

  2. Children attending Pre-school should wear a uniform of navy track bottoms and a light blue polo shirt.

  3. Many messy play activities will take place and staff cannot guarantee that an apron will keep clothing completely safe.

  4. For safety reasons, children must wear runners or shoes with straps securely around the heal.

  5. All runners and clothing must be size appropriate. This is especially important with shoes. If runners do not fit properly, parents will be notified, and shoes will be removed until appropriate ones are brought in. Loose fitting shoes or shoes too big are unsafe and not permitted.

  6. It is recommended that parents/guardians place their child’s name in all clothes to ensure that clothes go home to the appropriate child when an accident occurs. If a child’s item of clothing is missing, Early Years Teachers will do their best to locate the item.

  7. Extra changes of clothes should be left in the centre for the child, preferably 2 complete sets of extra clothing.

  8. In order to ensure clothing does not get lost, children are not to share spare clothing.
