Children’s Personal Belonging’s Policy

Policy

Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre does not recommend that children bring in their personal belongings, such as toys, to their classrooms. However, we do recognise that sometimes this is unavoidable and an important part of the settling in process. This is a policy that will provide clarity to the responsibility of the items once it is here. This policy can be used in conjunction with the Settling In Policy.

Procedure

  1. Children will be encouraged to give the item to their Key Person.

  2. The Key Person will put the item in a place of safety.

  3. Children in the Pre-school will be given an option of putting it in their cubby hole/personal bag. Children in the After School Club will be given the option of keeping it in their school bag.

  4. It is the family’s responsibility to remember to take the item home with them when they pick up the child.

  5. Early Years Teachers will not be held responsible if a personal item is misplaced or broken.

  6. Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre strongly discourages children bringing expensive items such as Nintendo DS and games, mobile phones, tablets, money and expensive jewellery.

  7. If a personal item is left behind, Early Years Teachers will not drop off items to a family’s home. The family must return to the centre and collect item or wait until the next day.
