Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre
Collecting Children Policy
Policy
Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre is always committed to ensuring the safety of children. Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre teachers must always be aware of who has been given permission to pick up a child other than his/her parent/guardian. It is the policy of Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre that children may only be collected by the person(s) named on the registration form unless a parent tells us in advance.
Procedure
-
Parents/guardians must enter the room that the child is in and speak to the staff to allow for an informal verbal turnover of their child’s day.
-
Once a child is picked up by a parent/guardian, the child(ren) is in the custody of the parent and is no longer a responsibility of the staff.
-
Children must leave the room with the parent.
-
Parents/guardians must discourage children from opening the doors upon departing, including opening the security front door.
-
Children must be collected on time or else a fee will be added to the invoice. (See Fees Policy)
-
The parent/carer must notify the staff if an alternative named person is to collect the child.
-
ID may be requested from the person picking up the child.
-
If a person arrives that is not on the collection list for the child, the parents/guardians will be contacted to seek approval. If the parents/guardians are not available, the emergency contacts will be notified, and approval will be sought from them. Until this has been achieved, children will not be allowed to leave with the person who has arrived to collect the child.
