Notifiable Infectious Diseases Policy

Policy

In an effort to minimise the spread of infectious diseases, Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre follow the management for Infectious Diseases Guidelines, which is written and provided by the HSE.

Some infectious diseases are notifiable to the Medical Officer of Health/Director of Public Health, within the HSE, of certain diseases. In an effort to ensure the health and well-being of the children, staff, and families that use the centre every day, we ask for open communication between management and parents of children.

Procedure

  1. If a child has been diagnosed with a Notifiable Infectious Disease, Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre will be notified by Public Health.

  2. Parents are asked to notify Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre, if their child has been exposed to a Notifiable Infectious Disease. (See enclosed list of Notifiable Infectious Diseases).

  3. Public Health Doctors are responsible for the prevention and control of Notifiable Infectious diseases.

  4. On being notified of a Notifiable Infectious Diseases, Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre will follow all advice and instructions that the Public Health Doctors give.

  5. Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre may contact Roscommon Hospital at 090 66206200, for advice, information and support if needed.

  6. In the case of children not immunised, the parents will be asked to seek advice, information and support from Community Services.
