Parental Involvement Policy

Policy

It is the policy of Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre to promote the active participation of parents in the planning and development of the service, valuing parents as the first educators of their children.

Procedure

  1. Upon parent’s arrival to collect their child at the end of the day/session, Early Years Teachers will communicate with parents how their child’s day went in a confidential and respectful manner. If a sensitive topic must be discussed, the staff will bring the parent to the most accessible, isolated area as possible to discuss any issues that might have occurred during the day.

  2. Parents are invited to discuss their child’s needs, care, progress, interests, achievements, and difficulties – both informally and formally at arranged meetings.

  3. Parents receive updated information about the centre and events, through a Parent Communication Board in reception, through letters and emails.

  4. Parents are instructed to read the Policies and Procedures located on the Cuan Bhríde Childcare Centre website. A hardcopy of the policies is available upon request.

  5. All parents/guardians must sign off on the Policy and Procedures that they understand them and will follow them.

  6. Parents are encouraged to be involved in decisions about policies and procedures operated by the service, and any other aspect of the service that affects their child.

  7. Parents are welcome to visit the service at any time.

  8. Parents are encouraged to work as volunteers in the service. Please see the Student & Volunteer Policy for more information.

  9. Parents are invited to contribute in other appropriate ways to the successful development of the service, such as becoming a member of the Voluntary Management Committee or a fundraising sub-committee.

  10. Early Years Teachers are available to discuss any concerns a parent may have regarding their child and the service.
